Meet the Team
Ryan Jo Summers is the founder of The Critter Sitter. She began her storied career in pet care in 1988, working full time as a veterinary technician and part time at a local boarding facility. In 1991 she bought her own boarding kennel. Over the years, she built up a successful boarding business, competitively showed collies, founded a non-profit collie rescue program, and volunteered for a number of other non-profit animal rescue charities. Her passion and specialty is working with traumatized and behaviorally challenged pets. She brings over thirty years of hands-on animal care experience.
She shares her home with a menagerie of rescued pets. In her spare time, she likes to putter in her garden and watch her flock of chickens. She is also a multi-published author in both fiction and non-fiction.
Christen Owen and Dovah
Christen Owen grew up in Transylvania County and recently moved to Hendersonville. She has shared her world with animals for as long as she can remember. She loves and respects all animals as friends, equals, and members of your family.
She is the proud owner of a 3-year-old smooth collie, named Dovah, as well as 3 cats. She spends her free time training, hiking and playing with her collie, as well as working on her pet portraits and abstract paintings.
